Orient Express La Minerva

Rome, Italy
designer: Hugo Toro
2023 / 2025
rooms: 93 + suite: 36 | public area

In the vibrant heart of Rome, overlooking Piazza della Minerva, stands Orient Express La Minerva, the first hotel in the world, by the legendary brand.
Housed in an elegant 17th-century palace and designed by architect Hugo Toro, the hotel is a refined tribute to the golden age of the Grand Tour. Here, historical heritage blends seamlessly with contemporary Art Deco style, creating a unique space where every detail tells a story of beauty and discovery.
Upon entering, guests are welcomed by the silent and powerful gaze of the statue of the goddess Minerva, framed by a skylight that filters natural light, enhancing the architecture and materials. Every element is in perfect harmony: the charm of the past meets a modern aesthetic, shaping an intimate and evocative atmosphere.
The 93 rooms and 36 suites reinterpret the spirit of the legendary Orient Express carriages. Lacquered wood panels, rich velvets, and alabaster lamps evoke the cultured elegance of the historic traveler, while custom furnishings recall the explorer’s trunk. Marble surfaces, burnished brass, and colored glass reflect the refinement of a 19th-century European salon.
Natural light flows through skylights and sheer curtains, casting shadows that seem to paint echoes of ancient Rome on the walls. Every space is designed to offer a discreet, enveloping sense of luxury, transforming each stay into a one-of-a-kind experience—steeped in art, history, and timeless beauty.
